Stadia is a cloud gaming platform developed by Google to take on Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox. Google Stadia is not a console like PS4 and Xbox. It’s a Cloud service that let the user play the games on any of their devices in the chrome browser. The game actually runs on the Google database and you are just streaming the game on your device just like a video. Now let us see what you should know about the Google Stadia.
Google Stadia is not a console
Google stadia is not exactly a console. It’s a cloud service running in google that lets the user play the games in any of their devices. However, Google supports 3rd party console’s joystick if you have one and it also launching its own Stadia joystick with google assistant built in.
Not all the games are (or) will support Stadia
At present, stadia support Assassin’s Creed Odyssey(originally developed by Ubisoft) and Doom eternal (Originally developed by ID software). Google is also working on some games to be launched exclusively for stadia. Some current and upcoming exclusive games for PS4 and Xbox might not be supported for Google’s platform.
Stadia will support 4K
Stadia will support 4k with HDR at 60 fps and even upscaled to 8k at 120fps. If you have a device that supports this specification then you are good to play.
No download and updates
Since the game is actually running on the Google’s server there is no need for the user to download or update the game. No download, no updates, no patches. The game will be updated by its corresponding developer on Google’s database.
Google stadia Pro is priced at $9.99 and
founders edition is priced at $129. The controller can be bought for $69.
However, Google is also launching Statia base
subscription service which is absolutely free to subscribe but it is capped at
1080P resolution at 60 FPS. You will also be limited to stereo sound and no
games will be included in the Free tier. You must purchase every game separately.
Google Statia Pro – This top tier subscription allows the player to steam games at 4K at 60 FPS. And will also get access to some older games. Even in this tier, players must purchase AAA title and modern games separately (Destiny 2: The collection will be included in this tier).
Stadia Pro requires a minimum bandwidth of 35 Mbps to stream 4K at 60 FPS with 5.1 surround sound. The free tier that is capped at 1080P at 60FPS with stereo sound requires a minimum of 10 Mbps to stream 720P.
